  •   Shinano Limited Express Train:

 

The Shinano Limited Express takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes to reach Matsumoto City. From there it is a quick and easy transfer to the Oito Line  for a further 1 hour and 37 minute journey to Hakuba Station (of course, we'll come around with our van to pick you and your gear up).

  • By Car:
Take the Chuo Expressway as far as Okaya Junction where you need to merge onto the Nagano Expressway towards Matsumoto and Nagano City.  About 35 km further along the Nagano Expressway, you'll exit at the Azumino Interchange (Toyashina Interchange) , at which point you'll see signs leading you the rest of the way into Hakuba Village.  Traveling time, approximately 4 1/2 hours.

 

From Osaka to Hakuba:
  • Tokaido Shinkansen to Nagoya, transfer to Shinano Limited Express Train (as above):

 

First, from Shin-Osaka station, take the Tokaido Shinkansen to Nagoya (about 49 minutes)  From Nagoya station, transfer to the Shinano Limited Express, which takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes to reach Matsumoto City. From there it is a quick and easy transfer to the Oito Line  for a further 1 hour and 37 minute journey to Hakuba Station (of course, we'll come around with our van to pick you and your gear up).

Time: approximately 4 hours 30 minutes
Cost: 11,560 yen.

  • By Car

A combination of the Meishin Expressway to the Tomei Expressway through Nagoya, then head on to the Chuo expressway as outlined above.  Traveling time, approximately 6 hours


Best case scenario, either route will take you 4 1/2 to 5 hours depending on your exact departure point.  Of course, traffic/weather conditions can play a part as well.
